Come un salmone / Like a salmon

Il salmone ha un cervello piccolissimo, tutto quello che compie nella vita è dato dall’istinto, dalla luce e dalle stelle.

Pensando alla vita che compie questo pesce, alla sua discesa verso il mare nella prima fase e poi alla risalita del fiume per ritornare nelle acque native, nella fase adulta, trovo diverse similitudini con il percorso di molti esseri umani, l’esempio più lampante, è la fatica che compie chi decide di andare controcorrente.

Eppure… il nostro cervello non è così piccolo, quanto meno in proporzione non piccolo come quello di un salmone e le nostre azioni sono mosse anche dalla ragione oltre che dall’istinto.

Beh… ovviamente ci sono anche le eccezioni, le famose teste di… salmone, giusto?

Ma parlando seriamente, perché fare tanta fatica per seguire il proprio cuore/istinto?

Possibile che la strada più utile per la nostra evoluzione, sia sempre controcorrente?

In questo momento vorrei essere un salmone, per potervi dare le risposte giuste, invece mi limiterò a dirvi quello che ho capito in merito alla questione.

Noi, siamo esseri irrequieti, attenti a cercare di avere il controllo: delle emozioni, delle situazioni… perché se qualcosa ci sfugge di mano… iniziamo a saltare come pesci in cerca della via di fuga.

Fatichiamo, ci arrabbiamo spessissimo e fino a quando non superiamo la cascata, ferendoci…a volte rischiando la vita… ecco fino a quel momento, non ci rendiamo conto di quanto sarebbe più facile a volte, lasciarsi andare o lasciare andare.

È giusto e coraggioso cercare la propria strada ma ogni tanto, per recuperare le forze e non perdere di vista l’istante che stiamo vivendo… dovremmo abbandonarci alla corrente.

La soglia della fatica si abbasserebbe e la pace potrebbe condurci in un luogo inaspettato…chissà…magari quello giusto.

Alla fine… anche noi seguiamo la luce e le stelle… almeno, prima di essere cotti a puntino.

Thinking about the life this fish has, about its descent towards the sea in the first phase and then the ascent of the river to return to the native waters, in the adult phase, I find several similarities with the path of many human beings, the most striking example it is the effort that those who decide to go against the tide make.

Yet… our brain is not so small, at least in proportion not as small as the salmon one and our actions are also moved by reason as well as by instinct.

Well… of course there are also exceptions, the famous… salmon‘s heads, right?

But seriously, why go to so much effort to follow your heart/instinct?

Is it possible that the most useful way for our evolution is always against the tide?

Right now I would like to be a salmon, to be able to give you the right answers, instead I’ll just tell you what I understand about the matter.

We are restless human beings, careful to try to be in control: emotions, situations… because if something gets out of hand… we begin to jump like fish in search of the escape route.

We struggle, we get angry very often and until we overcome the waterfall, injuring ourselves… sometimes risking our lives… here until that moment, we don’t realize how much easier it would be sometimes, to let ourselves go or let it be.

It is right and brave to search our own path but every now and then, to regain strength and not lose sight of the moment we are living… we should abandon ourselves to the flow.

The threshold of fatigue would drop and peace could lead us to an unexpected place… who knows… maybe the right one.

In the end… we follow the light and the stars too… at least, before being cooked to perfection.
