L’importanza dei tessuti / The textiles’ matter

Qualche anno fa ero a passeggio nel centro storico della mia città con un’amica. Eravamo in cerca di qualche nuova camicia da indossare.

Entrammo in diversi negozi e mentre io osservavo e cercavo il modello che poteva piacermi, lei si fermava a lungo davanti ai capi e lì toccava.

Sondra, questo è il suo nome, mi spiegò in quell’occasione l’importanza del tessuto.

Mi disse di toccarli per percepirne la composizione, l’odore della stoffa e devo confessarvi che era la prima volta che sentivo dire a qualcuno che i tessuti avevano un odore.

Ne fui affascinata! Non avevo mai dato importanza a questo aspetto e i capi che acquistavo mi piacevano e potevano essere fatti anche di cartone.

Mi accorsi che avevo il guardaroba pieno di plastica e pensare che credevo di possedere tante belle cose.

Some years ago, I was walking in the historic center of my home town with a friend.

We were looking for some new blouses.

We went in different shops and while I was looking and searching the preferred pieces, she stopped for a long time with a piece and she touched it.

Sondra, this is her name, told me about the importance of textiles.

She told me also to smell them in order to find the composition and the fragrance of clothes. It was the first time I heard someone to say textiles had a own smell.

I was totally captured from this! I never gave importance to this aspect and clothes that I bought were beauty and nothing else, maybe made of cardboard.

I realized my wardrobe was full of plastics otherwise I thought to have many beautiful things.
