Il posto giusto / The right place

Raphael è seduto in cortile e sorride pensando al suo progetto di trasferirsi in America.

Egli ha grandi sogni e non è spaventato all’idea di affrontare dei cambiamenti, per potersi sentire nel posto giusto, libero di esprimere i suoi sentimenti.

Allora gli domando qual è il posto giusto, ed egli mi risponde: “Il posto in cui poter essere felice.”

Sembra assurdo, ma la felicità spesso deve fare i conti con il peggiore degli antagonisti: l’infelicità altrui.

Questo, Raphael l’ha capito e per quanto ami la sua terra d’origine, deve allontanarsi da essa, per dare spazio alle sue emozioni.

Ci vuole coraggio, soprattutto se le proprie radici sono legate ad un luogo arido di felicità, vuoi per retaggio culturale oppure semplicemente perché ci si abitua a non esserlo.

E come spesso succede, anche il sogno americano di Raphael si rivela, in seguito, essere molto più vicino di quanto lo avesse immaginato. Ora egli vive felice a Milano.

Eh sì, non sai mai dove ti possa portare la ricerca della felicità, ma fidati, il tuo cuore lo sa e nel posto giusto, se lo vorrai, arriverà.

Raphael is sitting in the courtyard and smiling as he thinks of his plan to move to America.

He has big dreams and he’s not afraid to face changes, to be able to feel in the right place, free to express his feelings.

So I ask him which is the right place, and he replies: “The place where you can be happy.”

It seems crazy, but happiness often has to deal with the worst enemy: the unhappiness of others.

Raphael has understood this and as much as he loves his homeland, he has to move away from it, to give room to his emotions.

It takes courage, especially if one’s roots are linked to an arid place of happiness, either through cultural heritage or simply because one gets used to not being one.

And as often happens, Raphael’s American Dream later turns out to be much closer than he had imagined. Now he lives happily in Milan.

Oh yes, you never know where the pursuit of happiness can take you, but trust me, your heart knows it and is in the right place, if you want it, it will come.
